Our Nilgiri loose leaf black tea Blue Mountain House Selection is a beautifully refined SFTGFOP1 from the high-grown gardens of southern India. Bright, mellow and gently fruity, it brews to a clear copper cup with soft floral lift and remarkably low astringency — elegant hot, excellent over ice and one of the most approachable Indian black teas in our collection.
Nilgiri Loose Leaf Black Tea from the Blue Mountains
The Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu produce some of India’s most graceful black teas, known for their clarity, smoothness and naturally fresh character. This House Selection is an SFTGFOP1 grade Nilgiri, chosen for its consistency, finesse and easy-drinking elegance.
Grown at high elevation, it offers a lighter, more floral style than a bold Assam, yet with enough depth and structure to feel genuinely satisfying in the cup.
Bright, Fruity and Beautifully Low in Astringency
In the cup, this Nilgiri loose leaf black tea pours a clear amber-copper liquor with warm golden tones. The flavour is mellow and gently fruity, with a subtle floral note and a clean, refreshing finish.
Its low astringency makes it especially smooth and approachable. It is a tea that feels polished without becoming delicate, and refreshing without losing black tea character.
SFTGFOP1 House Selection with Fine Golden Tips
The SFTGFOP1 grade, or Super Fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe First Grade, reflects a high-quality orthodox leaf with fine tips and careful selection.
This gives the tea its refined appearance and smooth, layered cup. As our House Selection, it has been chosen not only for quality, but for its versatility — equally rewarding as a hot afternoon tea or a cold, clean iced infusion.

One of the Finest Black Teas for Iced Brewing
This tea is particularly well suited to home-brewed iced tea. Because of its naturally low astringency, it cools beautifully without becoming cloudy or harsh, leaving a bright, refreshing cup with excellent flavour clarity.
Served hot, it is smooth and elegant. Served over ice, it becomes clean, lively and remarkably refreshing — a genuine all-season black tea.
How to Brew Nilgiri Blue Mountain House Selection
Use freshly boiled water at 100°C and add one generous teaspoon per cup. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes.
A 3-minute brew keeps the tea lighter and more floral. A 4-minute infusion brings out a little more body and warmth.
For iced tea, brew at double strength using slightly less water, then pour directly over ice. This tea is excellent plain, with a slice of lemon or with a small splash of milk if preferred.
Ingredients
Black tea, Camellia sinensis.
