Black 4.0 (or possibly 3.0 in a very convincing disguise)
⚠️ A note before you buy (we respect you too much not to say this upfront)
One of our customers recently made a discovery: Black 4.0 may just be Black 3.0 wearing a new jacket and quietly hoping nobody notices.
The ruse, as it were, has been literally uncovered - as in, peel back the label and there's the old 3.0 one underneath. Now, if we're being generous (and we're trying to be), the most likely explanation is that Culture Hustle genuinely did upgrade their formula, but found themselves sitting on a stockpile of old 3.0 bottles. Being a small company that cares about waste, they thought: don't bin them, re-label them. And honestly? We applaud that instinct. We just wish they'd told us all. A tiny note on the label would have done it - something like "peek behind this and you'll understand how seriously we take minimising waste - but inside, we really did level up" 🤷♀️
If you bought a bottle from us before 28th April and you're feeling a little deceived, please get in touch. We've got commiserations and store credit ready for you.
If you'd still like a tub of this wonderful, possibly-still-3.0 paint - please go ahead. But do it fully informed.
Black 4.0 (we think) is the original, blackest, mattest acrylic paint on Earth - made by artists, for artists. This is the black that broke the internet, and we were specially invited by the art renegades at Culture Hustle to bring it to our shop. Honestly, how could we resist stocking the gothest paint known to man?
It absorbs 99–99.4% of visible light, turning objects into silhouettes, flattening detail into voids, and swallowing shadows whole. Pure visual drama in a bottle - no reflections, no compromises, no questions answered about which version you're actually holding.
I'm personally using Black 4.0 in the artwork and finishing touches for some of our made-to-order designs, so you'll be seeing its velvety darkness creeping into the collection soon. (I'm still using it. It's still wonderful. Even if it is a deceitful little pot.)
Perfect for: fine art, model making, cosplay, photography sets, spooky DIY projects - and any time you want blacker than black. Non-toxic and water-based, it's safe to use and deeply satisfying to play with.
